About Moringa Leaf Powder
Moringa Leaf Powder is a single ingredient: moringa leaf, dried and ground into a fine green powder. It comes in a 150 g jar with nothing added.
Moringa is also called the drumstick tree. In Indian kitchens the long pods go into sambar and curries, and the leaves are cooked like greens. A leaf powder lets you use the leaf without a fresh supply.
What goes into it
- Moringa leaf (Moringa oleifera)
- The only ingredient. The leaves are dried and ground to a fine powder.
Taste
Earthy, grassy and slightly bitter, with a deep green colour. A little goes a long way, so start with a small pinch.
How to use
Stir a small amount into smoothies, soups, dal, batter or the dough for rotis and parathas.
Add it near the end of cooking rather than the start, so the colour and flavour stay fresh.
Serving ideas
Try it in raita, chutney, scrambled eggs, pancake batter or a green smoothie with banana or mango, whose sweetness balances the bitterness.
Storage
Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture, and close the pack or jar firmly after each use. Shelf life is 18 months.
